Last week the temps got into the upper 90s. It reminded me that things are about to get ugly around here and we should take advantage of the 80s while we have them. We did some school in the morning and then took a field trip to the Territorial Prison, where poor unfortunate souls in the 1880s got to sit in small dark cells and roast in the heat. The kids had fun talking about a little Yuma history. Sam ran up to all the cells and yelled, "Bad guys! Come out!" We visited the prison cemetary, but only after a discussion about whether or not the dead bad guys turned into ghosts. We even managed to find a big shady tree and some green grass for a picnic.

I like SAMs approach...straight forward, no surprises.
Good job giving your children a historical and cultural - not to mention metaphysical education! We had fun when we visited the prison with you guys last Christmas.
