Eight years

So crazy to think we've been married for eight years. That's practically ten! This year for our anniversary we decided to do a 'staycation'. Lee's parents and sister were nice enough to come stay with the kids so we could escape. We stayed at a local hotel by the river and had a very nice day doing very Yuma stuff. Our first stop was at Lettuce Days, a celebration of agriculture in Yuma. If you've had lettuce of any sort this winter I can pretty much guarantee that it came from this area. You're welcome. We had lunch at a Yuma institution that makes some excellent tortilla soup and chocolate cake. After lunch we stopped by a pow-wow put on by one of the Indian tribes in the area. Lee likes to mock pow-wows because they're not really a tribal tradition in this part of the world, more of a thing you do for tourists, it was still fun. We went to see 'Oz', which was okay, not great. We tried to have dinner at an Italian place downtown, however the local winter curse of 'snowbirds' also known as 'old people who plague us during the nicest months of the year, clogging roads, restaurants, and the grocery store, caused it to be too busy. The most beautiful thing about the fact that it will be 95 degrees this week is the fact that it drives those white haired folks back north. Instead we had dinner in a little Mexican place that has been here for 50 years, a tasty end to our Yuma day. The kids of course had a wonderful time. I'm not sure how many donuts and cheetos were consumed in my absence, which is probably for the best. They also stopped by the pow-wow where Mitchell was excited to see, "whole Indians, not half ones". You know, because all the ones walking around this house are just partial Indians. By the time we went home it really felt like we had been somewhere else. It's always nice to get away for a bit, even if you're still home.

Ok, so your wedding picture is particularly gorgeous, and though I had never thought this before, while I looked at that picture, I thought you looked a DARN lot like Courtney Cox. Agree? Disagree? Has anyone ever said that before?

I am glad that you finally got out on your own and kicked up your heels, but I am surprised that you didn't go back to the camel farm. Oh well, I am glad that you were able to have fun anyway. I can't believe it's been 8 years - it seems like just yesterday.
