A question for my mommy friends

So I've heard from various sources that during pregnancy your body is just kind of predetermined to gain a certain amount of weight, somewhat regardless of eating/exercise. I'm just wondering if those of you that have had multiple kids have found that to be the case. Obviously I want you to tell me that it's not going to matter whether I eat Oreos and sit on the couch all day or I eat carrots and spend some time on the treadmill. Because, given the choice, I'm choosing Oreos.

I gained more the second time around, but I still ate oreos!

For both my pregnancies, I ate whatever I wanted (oreos included) and I exercised regularly. With Mason I gained A LOT of weight, and with Ellie I gained 15 pounds less. For me, having to chase around a 2 year old while pregnant, kept me more active so I didn't put on as much weight the second time. I think the weight gain is somewhat determined on your activity level. Though, there was a time when I put on 14 pounds in 1 month which rather surprised me!

Sorry, Kelsey, but from what I learned in my dietetics classes, diet and exercise are definitely a factor in how much pregnancy weight you gain. :) I shouldn't talk, though, because I'm not exercising at all right now, and I think I'm gaining more in this pregnancy than in my other 2. Dang!

I gain about the same every time. Lots. :) I don't even look at the scale anymore at the doctor's office and they don't bother to tell me. I think we're both happier that way.
Get yourself some mint oreos. I polished off a package the other day.

But PS, though loosing the weight is a huge pain afterwords, isn't the point to cook a fat, healthy baby? Yes. So gain what you've got to gain-babies like oreos too! :)

I get up to the same weight every time I'm pregnant (unfortunately I don't get down to the same weight afterwards so I gained 30lbs with Ellie, 25 with Laura, and 20 with David but all three got me to the same weight- so I am 15 pounds heavier now than when I got pregnant with Ellie...bummer.) I have always eaten what ever I want whether I'm pregnant or not (thus the 15 extra pounds) but I do exercise two or three times a week and I feel healthier even though I'm heavier.

I have no advice, other than to eat what you want and worry about it later because no matter what, you KNOW what a post-baby body is like, and few extra l-b's isn't really going to make that big of a difference!

You are stinkin' cute no matter what.

This is so different for everyone. But there really is now way to tell. You're gonna feel all out of shape afterwards regardless if you work out or watch what you eat. So just do what I did & say you're eating for two & pig out.
