I recently remembered that I like sewing. Before Mitchell was born I was learning how to quilt, and I sewed all his crib bedding. Then he was born, and the sewing machine got packed away. A few weeks ago I got inspired by some projects I found on the internet and I busted the sewing machine out of the closet and set up a little sewing station in the future baby room. Don't ask me what will happen to my little sewing center when there is a baby in that room, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. So I've been gathering projects and fabrics and I have some stuff I'm excited to work on. My mom got me some patterns for Christmas, one of which I used to make this sewing machine cover:
In keeping with all past projects it's crooked and full of mistakes. I am completely unable to cut in a straight line and I rarely have the patience to worry about small details. Oh well, mistakes included it's still much better than the plastic bag I used to have over my sewing machine.
I recently got a new wallet and it doesn't have room for my checkbook, so I found instructions on the internet for this little number:
In other news, since spending all that time with family Mitchell has taken to calling me Kelsey (Cow-sey). It's kind of funny, but I try not to laugh lest I encourage him. I'm counting on it just being a phase.

Love them both. Great fabrics Cow-sey! Can I call you that too!? Okay this week is over. It's time to come out and be social. You have got to be officially settled in and now stocked with food. We have jumper here calling Mitchell's name. You have got to see the pattern I picked up for baby slippers at a yard sale.
Im sewing 'flirty aprons' tomorrow morning (google it they are pretty cute!) and maybe its a fun cheap little project you might like to try!
ps you are way good.
I am impressed. I can't cut in straight lines either (or sew in straight lines for that matter). But I can't tell on you projects that there is anything off. Sewing must run in your genes or something... And Ellie called me Nat for about 3 months when she was 2. Then she went back to mommy. But I have head of this sticking long-term. Luckily it's cute.
As always, I'm impressed by your domesticity.
Wow! Nice to catch up with the blogging world. I've been out of touch and see I missed the BIG NEWS! Yay! Congrats to you all. The sewing projects are awesome. I am still trying to figure out patches for Brad's scout uniform.
Like the cover, good idea.
Wow! Both you and Jayna being domestic in the same week. Must be telepathy... I feel I can comment on yours since it IS G-rated...
Why aren't our families blogging friends? Do you have an objection? :)
What's a little blog stalking among friends? We've (well, mostly I've) dropped by now and then to check up on your happenings. Now we're blog AND Facebook friends. Nice.
Hi Kelsey! I found your blog through Natalie's. Calvin called me Anna for a while- but the phase passed. Cute checkbook cover, I think Calvin has a blanket with that same fabric. Keep in touch!
