I should have known better than to be relieved when Mitchell slept a few nights in a row with zero wake-ups. He's always been a good night sleeper and his norm for a long time has been going to sleep around 7 getting up to eat around 4:30 or 5, and going back to bed until 6. That was okay, but then he slept a few nights from 7 until 6, and I was all excited thinking I was finally over having to wake up. And just as I got used to this idea he woke up at 2 am two mornings in a row. Dang kid. Really I think he did it on purpose, it's some part of the baby training they get before they arrive, "Driving your parents nuts 101". Last night he was back to usual. Who knows what tonight will be. At least we've mostly mastered the going to sleep on his own thing.
The other day I looked back at him in his car seat and I thought, 'Holy cow! Where did his little baby face go?' He's starting to lose his chub and he's looking more like a little boy than a baby. Sad! He's also getting a lot louder. He's recently starting screaming, a really high-pitched annoying scream. Sometimes when he's mad, and sometimes just because he can. I can only hope that this is a phase, I'm already tired of it. He's also becoming more vocal/physical about expressing his feelings. The other day we were taking a walk and on the way home he decided he'd had enough, and proceeded to throw what I can only call a tantrum. I didn't know babies threw tantrums I thought that was reserved for toddlers. Guess not. So his screaming and writhing resulted in a nice scratch on the side of his head from his stoller. Needless to say he was tired and hungry, but sheesh, find another way to tell me!

So it begins...the mothering of a man child. I wish you luck on your endeavor. P.S. All of the afore mentioned behaviors only get worse, amplified, and compounded as they get closer and closer to two, when their naughtiness peaks and then one morning it's like they're not possessed anymore and they are reasonable, perfectly capable little children.
