The house that wouldn't be finished

This is not the most recent picture of the house, but you get the basic idea! Now, the reality is that the house is very close to being finshed, but I am not a patient girl. I'm tired of waiting! I'm tired of hauling large baskets of laundry up and down the stairs! I'm tired of washing dishes by hand! I'm ready for this house to be done! Pretty much all that is left to be done is the tile on the roof, part of the fence in the back, and some gravel in the front yard. So I figure that should take about a day. Which, of course, it won't. If they'd be willing to let me do a little work on the place I guarantee it would go a lot faster. But, I guess I'm not much of a roofer. Really I should be terrified that we are so close to becoming homeowners. That means we're real people with a mortgage, and a yard to take care of. Of course it also means that I have a washer and dryer! And yes, the day they were installed in the house, I did hug them.

Oh my gosh they are almost done. It's cool to see the house while hearing (reading) about it. I'm excited for you guys. Don't worry we won't leave you stranded out there alone. We will still call. Love, Mande

See how much better this is going to be? Posting pictures of babies and new houses is a breeze! Let's hope this site doesn't succumb to your myspace apathy. I'll try and keep you going. P.S. I love the house- spanish style is awesome. Except I kept looking for the trees..or anything green..and then I realized that you do in fact live in a desert. I think I've been in denial. But then again, a patch of grass is a big enough pain to take care of. If you were smart, and seasoned home owners, you would xeriscape the whole thing. But I know you're young, and in love with having some foliage to play on...you'll learn soon enough...

I don't even know what xeriscaping is. All I know is that if you're looking for green in my part of the world, you will be sadly disappointed.

in a nut shell, xeriscaping is using indigenous plants that require very little water that will naturally thrive in your area. they may take a little more water than normal at first, but once they are established they are good to go. very little maintenance and very sustainable because of the low need for water. you can throw in some rocks, too if you feel crazy! (there is much more research out there for you if you are interested).
