In an Arizona summer the heat is oppresive. To the point that you wish you were dead. And you are forced to question your own sanity for living in such a place. Each day is worse than the next and you wonder if you will ever survive until fall (although fall here is quite different than any fall you might imagine). And then, monsoon season hits. And Arizona makes up for an entire year of absolutely no weather, and it does it all in a day. Monsoons are one of my favorite things about Arizona. They're just these crazy powerful storms that dump buckets of rain, I'd never seen rain like that before moving here. This monsoon season has been pretty slow, but on Sunday, we finally got our weather for the year. Lightning, thunder, wonderful, crazy rain, and much to my surprise, even a little hail. Mitchell loved splashing in the puddles that quickly developed, and the rest of us enjoyed the smell of rain, and cool air. Of course, the next day was a sunny scorcher, but it's amazing what one day of rain can do to your attitude. I might just make it to fall after all.

I thought you guys were getting all kinds of rain. We always see a storm coming from your direction that doesn't make it over the mountains. Glad you got a good rain. Monsoon season is a favorite for us locals too. I agree we have not had enough of it this year. I must nap now. I'll email you later today.
That is an AWESOME puddle! I'm sure he enjoyed himself!
p.s. Stick the for sale sign up in your yard again already...
I hear that there's rain in Kalispell, not to mention highs in the 70's and 80's - hint, hint. We will give you a report after our visit there next week. I am glad that you had a brief respite from the heat!
At least you live in AZ. In Blythe we just look longingly across the river and cry our own buckets of rain because we're so bored of the sun.
