A Little Princess

A list of the things Mitchell currently requires for sleeping:
-soft blanket
-small snuggly blanket my mom made him
-stuffed monkey
-stuffed pig
-stuffed fish
-binkies (yes, still)
-the Fisher price aquarium that was in his crib when he was a baby
-darkness (lately he's taken to waking with the sun at 5 am and refusing to go back to sleep because 'it's day outside').
-white noise to cover any possible sounds we might make, every little thing wakes him up.
-anything else that has caught his eye that day i.e. tiny stuffed Mickey Mouse, small rubber Spiderman, seashell, small inflatable pumpkin from two Halloweens ago, etc.

Did I do this to him? I don't think I did. I didn't tell him to randomly acquire things and become instantly bonded to them. I assume he won't be taking all these things to college with him, but I suppose anything is possible.

Okay I just think that is cute but I guess I don't have to collect all that stuff. Jade has to sleep with certain dogs right now. No biggie right. Well it changes. It's not always the same dog and she waits until we put her in bed to ask for it. So we have to go through her plethora of dogs until we find the right one. Alright I think Jade's thing is kinda cute too. I can just see Mitchell now making a little check list so nothing is forgotten.

Wow, you're going to have a problem with that silence thing when the baby is born. Other than that it sounds pretty typical (though perhaps a little excessive). Ellie, Laura, and David all have blankets they won't sleep without and Ellie and Laura both have to have three books to read over after we put them in bed and several stuffed animals, though not always the same ones.

Yeah, you were a lot easier to get to bed. You just had to have a book in your hand. For the next baby, you'll have to make a lot of noise when he is sleeping and see if you will be lucky and have one of those babies that can sleep through anything. I imagine that Mitchell's adjustment to a new brother will make you wish you just had to worry about having everything he owns in bed with him. Should be fun!

Yup- your mom has the wise answer. Wait to vacuum UNTIL naptime with the 2nd baby...those babies learn to sleep thru anything! Not like the prima donna first borns...

Man, we really WERE the practice kids!

And so is Mitchell. But hey, we turned out all right, and so will he. As long as he trims down the routine before his mission, I think he'll be okay.
