So to tour a lot of these DC places you're supposed to contact your member of Congress to get signed up for a tour. So we contacted ours months ago, and finally heard back from them today. They took their sweet time to tell us they could do nothing for us. You are lame Raul Grijalva! Luckily one of Lee's coworkers has a much cooler member of Congress. He's been able to get signed up for tours, and he can take a group. Yesterday we went to the Pentagon, which really was not as cool as I thought it would be. Really, it's just a bunch of offices. I don't know what I was expecting exactly. It was huge! Like a whole city in one gigantic building. We stood in the part of the building that was damaged on 9/11. It was a much bigger area than I had imagined. On Friday we're supposed to be touring the Capitol building. I'm looking forward to that. Rest assured if I happen to run into Raul Grijalva I'll be giving him a piece of my mind.
In other news, we moved into a new apartment. The other one was nice. But this one is nicer! It's much closer to the Metro (heaven forbid we should get exercise), it's closer to stores, restaurants, etc. And it's right by the mall! So not only will I be immensely fat by the time I get home, we may be completely bankrupt.
And on a fun side note, Lee had a meeting today at the White House. Cool, huh! Okay, it wasn't in the actual White House, it was in a nearby building where other important meetings are held, but still, the White House! He got to meet some important folks. And coolest of all, he stole a napkin for me! Don't worry, it's paper, but it has the presidential seal on it. Don't be jealous, you all can touch it when I get home.

i agree that the pentagon isn't that cool of a tour... but the capitol tour is WAY cooler, so get excited about that!! we still need to get together. where's your new apartment? and how long are you guys out here? we're moving into a townhouse this weekend, then flying to idaho for fam vacation, but after that we should go do something fun!
The only problem with letting everyone touch your Presidential napkin when you get home is - none of us (luckily) live in Quartzsite. You could let the naked bookstore man touch it. I'm glad that you guys are having fun! Save something for us to do when we get there in September.
Well I am in fact jealous! Now you are going to lord that napkin over me until my dying day...You're the pretty AND presidential one now. How can I compete with that?
In honor of your local, hope you enjoy the new background!
That's dumb you need congressional approval to visit some of those buildings. I vote that this practice stop (let's see democracy in action)
Did you change the look of your blog? I like it.
Very cool. Too bad you guys have to leave so soon.
