We're making it

Man, I'm tired. I knew that the first little bit with a newborn is a little crazy, but I forgot how much it takes out of you. Lee has been tons of help, and Mitchell has been very good (as good as a two year old can be anyway), so luckily I haven't had too much to worry about besides managing a baby. But, some days that is quite a task. The last couple of days Sam has been going through a growth spurt, so constantly eating and very crabby. I nearly mailed him to my parents. I think we're out of the woods now though. My house remains a disaster. I assume that someday I'll figure out how to have two kids and still get stuff done. Until then, we live in a pigsty and eat things that are not so good for us. One positive note would be that this will be the first summer that I don't care that it's 115 degrees outside. I'm too tired to do anything besides sit around inside. Poor Mitchell though, might be losing it a little. He's started befriending inanimate objects and expects them to communicate with him. I also often observe him running around the backyard talking to himself. At least he has Anja out there sometimes to talk to, she's a pretty good listener.
Since we put the grass in our backyard we have become the only green, well-watered place for miles. Which means the yard is starting to resemble a nature preserve. There are often rabbits and quail wandering around back there. And in the afternoons small birds congregate in tiny patches of shade in our lawn. But, most unfortunately, we also seems to attract every bee in the state. They seem to like the lawn after it's been watered, and Mitchell's swimming pool, and the hose when it's on. Any form of water really. This means that Mitchell has been stung four times this month. He's getting pretty tough about it. Kinda irritates me that he can't just go enjoy his backyard without fear of angry insects, but I don't really know what to do about it.
That's about all the excitement we have going on around here. I may attempt some laundry today, wish me luck.

Sam is so cute! I love that your yard is a nature preserve--stinks about the bees though. Have you tried traps or those keep bees away candles?

Glad you're surviving!

What a cute family!!! You look great. I have the same bouncy seat and portable swing, they are so cute. Don't feel bad about staying inside, I'm doing the same thing. It's also my first time not hating the summer. By the time I'm ready to venture out on a regular basis it will be fall!

Hey- nice Sunday dress up picture - everyone looks put together and smiling that's quite an achievement! We wish we could be there to play and help out - or rather, we wish that you lived up here closer where the temperature is more livable - but maybe that will happen some time in the future - (crossing my fingers). Don't worry about the house - it's always there and will always need to be cleaned.

The thing that got to me the most about that family picture is the fact that you are wearing a button down shirt...
