I'm not going to lie, the last few days my housekeeping has slipped a little. It's never been top-notch, but the Olympics are causing new levels of laziness. Today the carpet reached a point where I just couldn't avoid vacuuming it anymore. I got the vacuum out of the closet, Mitchell took one look at it and ran in terror to his room. I know it's the nature of kids to have silly fears, and he's had his fair share, balloons and exercise balls for example. His vacuum phobia has stuck with him the longest. Usually I wait to vacuum until Lee is home and he plays with Mitchell in his room. So Mitchell was freaked out and I decided it wasn't worth traumatizing him anymore. I vacuumed most of the living room with a dust buster. It was pretty ineffective and I felt like I looked kind of stupid, but the carpet is somewhat cleaner. Mitchell is not afraid of the dust buster, in fact I believe he thinks it's his. When I was done with it he hauled it around the house turning it on and off until the battery died. Hopefully along the way he picked up a few crumbs.
Speaking of the Olympics, Mitchell and I are loving watching swimming. When it's on he smiles and says 'agua', and then he waves his arms like he's swimming. I'm also looking forward to track and field. I used to be a bit of a track star myself. That is until that fateful track meet in elementary school when I tripped and fell on my face, thus ending my track career.

So glad I'm not the only one who has let swimming get in the way of clean floors, empty sinks and wiped counters. :)
If you've been watching that much swimming, then all I have to say is "and the build on 'im...we've got swollen eyes from gawking at his bum..."
Since you're not vacuuming now either, you might as well go stuff your face with some more pie.
Love,
your irish cohost
Well, in advance of your visit to Boise next week, I purchased a new baby for Mitchell (Lee, close your eyes - it's a human-baby doll). I also got him some sidewalk chalk and some treats! I will make sure that I do my vacuuming before you guys get here.
I forgot about Mitchell's fear of the vacuum. He seems like he wouldn't be afraid of anything. Well except a little girl that will remain nameless who invades his personal space. You have inspired me to get cleaning. Well tomorrow anyway. Today is the sabbath after all. Does that count as obediance or a great excuse to continue to be lazy.
