Yes, I've recently dropped off the face of the blogging planet, but I'm back! So, we're in DC now! We've been here since Monday. We left the day after Allyson's wedding, which was lovely. It's so crazy that my little sister is married! But, I'm very happy for them. They are currently living it up in Trinidad, not a bad life. Too bad they have to come back and live in Provo.
Ever since we found out that we would be coming to DC I had been dreading the plane ride over here. Any of you who have any experience with toddlers will recall that asking them to hold still for any amount of time is just plain silliness. So I created various horrifying scenarios in my mind. Most of them involved a screaming, squirming toddler, and some irate fellow travellers. Amazingly my worries were unfounded. Mitchell may be the squirmiest kid I know, but he managed to keep it together. I was pretty proud of him.
So far I'm really enjoying my time here. I'm pretty much just not a big city girl. In the past, everytime I've been to a big city I've spent a lot of time being fairly freaked out. I don't know, there's just been a lot of weird, scary people and places. Now, I'm not saying DC is freak-free, but I feel pretty comfortable here. Probably because the parts of DC I spend my time in are made up of tourists and business people. So far everyone has been very friendly and I'm adapting to big city life. I'm slowly becoming a Metro pro. Granted, the first day I did get on the wrong train and didn't figure it out until several stops later, but I recovered nicely.
The area we live in is very nice, very business-peopleish. There's lots of office buildings and hotels and restaurants. I will most likely gain 500 pounds while I'm here. The restaurants are just so dang convenient.
And now for the best part ever! Today, while I sipped juice on a patio in the sun, a small army of women visited my apartment and cleaned it! Top to bottom! It is beautiful, and I will never be able to return to normal life after this.

I've been faithfully checking every day to get an update!! How terribly exciting Kels! You're like a real person who goes and lives in a big city and rides the metro. AND you have house cleaners?! Make this a permanent gig! I bet Lee looks sharp in business clothes, and heaven knows you were made to sip juice on a patio with your well behaved toddler playing nearby! Congrats on the successful move. Plan on me coming to visit your perfect pretend life sometime soon!
eli was totally sick when we flew and it was a disaster so way to go mitch! hopefully we'll see you the next time we go to see carrie. you guys are always welcome here too- it's a 5 hr road trip i think.
I didn't know you were moving to DC. For how long? I do love it out east, I just don't love the Bronx is all. Very cool.
