Disneyland

We just returned from a little trip to Disneyland. We figured we should take advantage of having kids who still think Mickey is cool and the fact that it's only a three and a half hour drive. On the way over we stopped in San Diego to see Ben and LaRee and have some breakfast burritos and Sprinkles cupcakes. Red Velvet. Yummy. The boys were excited to get on some rides. We mostly stuck to the tame rides because Sam was too short for the wilder ones, and Mitchell is too cautious. Toward the end of the trip Lee did stuff some socks in Sam's shoes to give him a little extra boost because he's so close to the height limit for a couple rides. Devious, I know. I gotta hand it to those Disneyland employees, they are pretty darn good at eyeballing heights. He got measured like 12 times for every ride we tried to sneak him on, but he passed every time. Don't worry, the rides weren't anything racy or crazy, he's two for goodness sakes. Lee was convinced he could talk Mitchell into going on the Haunted Mansion ride, he underestimated how stubborn Mitchell can be. He's kind of a chicken. He did get him on Splash Mountain though, Mitchell liked it, but refused to go again because he got wet. Despite the fact that Lee couldn't talk him into the Haunted Mansion or the Tower of Terror, we all had a good time. Mitchell declared pretty much every ride to be his favorite. We went on Pirates of the Caribbean three times, he's a big fan of pirates lately. Sam, not so much, he only went twice, and the second time I had to cover his eyes the whole way. Our trip happened to coincide with Mitchell's fifth birthday, so we did some birthday celebrating as well. I'm just hoping he doesn't expect Mickey Mouse to be at all future birthday parties. We all had a lot of fun, and as Mitchell said, "it's kind of sad to leave Disneyland", but we're happy to back. We all missed Luke, who Lee's mom was nice enough to watch for us. We were happy to see him again despite the fact that he's been a crabby monster since we returned. I suppose getting like 12 teeth and a viral infection all at once will do that to a kid.
And now a whole bunch of pictures, because I just can't narrow them down.

We love Disneyland! We've only been once with our kids, but we can't wait to go back. Looks like you had fun!

So adorable! The little boy experience looks like fun too- my girls were like "Who is that?" in reference to Micky Mouse. It was Princesses or bust.

What a cute family you guys have- and Mitchell will remember this trip! 5 is the magic age!

p.s. You need a new blog look. Email me what you want and your info...Luke wants to be in the header too...

Ha ha! What must Jayna think of my blog?? I've never changed it ONCE since it's inception. Well, I mean, I guess I change headers, just not backgrounds. Anyway...

Fun times. We've never taken the pilgrimage yet.

It is fun to see the pictures of you guys having fun. I still remember the time I went to Disneyland, probably at Mitchell's age, and I got lost in Frontierland. A helpful Disney employee told me that "Mickey's friends don't cry" which was absolutely no help to me at all. Apparently I was not only lost, but lost Mickey as a friend to boot! Happy Anniversary by the way! 7 wonderful years of wedded bliss!
