Okay, so this post is wildly overdue. However, in my defense, things got a little nuts last week. Monday we went to Lee's parent's house for the festivities. Tuesday I was out of town all day at a doctor appointment, then Tuesday night we had a crazy summer thunderstorm which knocked down 17 power poles in the area. So at 10:15-ish Tuesday night our electricity stopped working. By the time the kids got up in the morning the house was starting to heat up and the power company was saying it would probably be Friday before they could get things all fixed up. So it took about two seconds of considering 110 degree weather and no AC for three days for us to realize that we were leaving town. So we went and bothered Lee's parents again. Luckily the power was back up Thursday morning, however the week was pretty much shot by then, and I've spent my time playing catch up.
Anyway, Sam is two! Although if you ask him how old he is he'll say one because he didnt figure out his age until the day before his birthday and he's having a hard time letting it go. We didn't do anything super exciting for his birthday. I'm not inspired to do wild crazy things when its so hot outside, it just sucks the life out of you. He had fun being spoiled by the grandparents and opening lots of presents,99.9% of them were trucks of some kind much to his delight. He also did some swimming which he loves. It's funny to watch him swim, he has his floaty thing on and he doesn't want anyone to hold onto him, but he doesn't know how to kick to get himself places. He just kind of drifts where the water takes him and occasionally sticks out his hand and asks for help getting somewhere. After a day of fun we came back home. We woke him up to see the town fireworks from our back yard, he was unimpressed. Mostly he was scared of them and just wanted to go back to bed. Maybe next year. Luckily, despite turning two, he's still a delightful little guy. He's wild and crazy and happy-go-lucky and makes us laugh everyday.

I wish we could have been there for the festivities! He looks cute, as usual. You didn't tell us about your thunderstorm and electrical disaster! I am glad that you had a place to go and literally "chill". Dad is getting excited to come down for the blessing - wish I could be there, too. I am teaching RS that Sunday! Hopefully Ben and LaRee will be able to make it as well. Have Fun in the Sun!
He is so adorable. Happy Birthday Sam! (I always want to say Uncle Sam,s 4th of july and all).
That's so fun, I was waiting for the post about it! I wish we could see you guys too, we will be in Arizona for Christmas so stay there :). I think based on those pics he looks more like Mitchell these days. I'm glad he got some trucks!
so cute! i wish we could see the 'swimming' in action! and hopefully we can meet up in st. george or somewhere at christmas!
He is darling. I can't believe he's 2 already! And I can't believe you went without air conditioning in 110 degree heat! That's brutal. I'm glad your in-laws were near.
