Here's what I need you to tell me: During the last part of your pregnancy your child watched much more TV than usual, because you simply did not have the will to do any more than that. You also need to tell me that it's possible to walk around 2 cm dilated for weeks without going into labor, because that's what I have to do. Thank you.

You have to start rotting their brains with hours of tv BEFORE the baby comes, so that when the HOURS of tv are inflicted upon them during those first few weeks of parenting two, you won't feel guilty.

Just have to ask-did you ever read my blog when I was pregnant? If so, then you know my answer. Of COURSE my kids watched more TV.
What you don't know is that they STILL watch more TV. I just don't have the excuse of pregnancy anymore, so I try to keep that little secret under wraps.

Oh yes, my kids television watching routines fluctuate based on my level of exhaustion. Sometimes my kids only watch a half hour a day (though this is fairly rare) and sometimes they glue themselves to it for hours at a time. They aren't too dumb either. I remember watching tons of TV when I was a kid and I made it through okay,

Also you can walk around for months dilated to a 3 or even a 4. I think I was dilated to a 3 for a month before David was born. Dilation means nothing. It's just used to give you hope when you are miserable.

I have no idea about dialation(except I've heard women can be dialated forever and still not go into labor)and I've seen some of the stuff Mitchell learns from TV so I'm not worried. If you need to take your mind off these worries you are welcome to sew me another purse. :)

Well, you got a lot out of morning TV when you were little. The usual routine of Sesame Street and then Mr. Rogers worked out okay for you - you even told me that Mr. Rogers loved you so I kept letting you watch his show even though he and his puppets gave me the creeps! Mitchell is smart enough that a little TV won't stunt him too much. Just make sure you get some good reading time in every day. Take advantage of Ben while he's down there, too. Let Mitchell do a lot of "helping".

that's why there are at least 5-6 hours of pbs programming. i agree with jayna--get them self-reliant in their t.v. ways so that they can take care of it when you're nursing for hours at a time.

my mom tells me i learned to read before i went to school from watching pbs. remember now, i'm the youngest--so there's no pregnancy excuse there. maybe i've delayed simon by trying to restrict his t.v.!
