This past weekend we took a little jaunt to Phoenix. Our goal was to spend some time away from the kids and sneak away for a bit and go to the temple. On the whole it was a good weekend. We went to the temple in Mesa on Friday morning. There was a bit of a scandal and I almost didn't get in because of an incorrectly filled out recommend. Luckily they let me squeak in. After that we went to Ikea. I just love that place, though the entire time I'm there I'm totally lost. There is so much wonderful, cheap, colorful goodness. I picked up a few items to get my sewing area under control. It occupies a small corner of our room, and it was overflowing with disorganization. We also did a little lunch at the Ikea restaurant, where I consumed enough food for two or three people. One of the benefits of this pregnancy business is an increased appetite. Usually I'm good for one actual meal a day, the rest of the day is pretty much just snacks. Now, I can eat like a crazy person, especially at lunch time. Yes, this will lead to weight gain, however, it's nice to just really enjoy a lot of food. On Saturday we did a little more shopping and then went to a Native American hoop dance. I love watching those, so cool. We were talking to Mitchell about how we were going to see some Indians dance. Lee said, 'Mitchell you're Indian right?' Mitchell replied, 'Yes, but I don't dance.' So now you know, don't even ask him to, cuz he won't. Sam put a damper on the weekend with his night time antics. He is such a bad sleeper away from home. Usually if we're away from home and I let him cry a bit, he gives up and sleeps, and does fine the rest of the trip. Lee's parents don't like listening to him scream, so that doesn't usually happen there. The last night we were there I was so sick of the no sleep thing that I declared he was crying, no more nonsense! So at midnight I was standing guard at his door while he loudly informed me how angry he was. And then, he opened the door and just walked right out. Yep, figured out how to get out of the pack and play. Which means he will never sleep again anywhere but his own bed. Of course, the other day I went to get him out of his crib and he had his little leg up trying to get it up over the side. So, last night I fell asleep worrying about how my life is going to fall apart when he figures out how to get out of his crib. All sleeping may very well cease. And it will probably happen right around the time I have a non-sleeping newborn.
Anyway, Phoenix was nice, and thanks so much to Nana and Grandpa for watching the two wild monsters so I could have some moments of peace and quiet.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, no big news on any transfers. We found out a few places we're not going (no Sequim, sorry Bethany) and Lee had an interview for supervisor in Tucson. We'll know in a few weeks how that went, although it was pretty cool that he even had an interview since he's up against some pretty stiff competition. Go Lee! So, still waiting.

Meh. Oh well, I'll still hope you go somewhere!
i get lost at ikea too. i can actually get kind of dizzy in it look at everything!
when luke started getting out of the crib and pack-n-play, i learned to snuggle with him to sleep. he falls asleep quickly if i snuggle with him. try it, it might work!
Wow= glad you got away, sorry about the non-sleeping toddler, and best of luck with the escape artist!
I am laughing out loud about the indian but he's not dancing! :)
Yes good luck with crazy Sam, that sounds like bad news! We hope it works out with Lee's transfer. I'm sure it will. I love Ikea... too bad there isn't one here... or even remotely close...
Well, I have never been to Ikea so I can't comment on any of that. I do have some video footage of Mitchell being a wild man on the dancefloor at Disneyland, so I beg to differ with his statement on his nondancing proclivities. Of course, you didn't think he would dance either so it took me to get him out on the dancefloor and show off his Saturday Night Fever skills. Too bad about Sam. Maybe you could make use of some scorpion carcasses - just put them on the floor by his crib and tell them they're alive and will get him if he gets out. Just Kidding! (in case you have any state child welfare agents reading your blog)
